How to dress well

Summer is salad season, and I’d like to share my FAVORITE dressing recipe. Really, this dressing is more of a sauce that you can use on anything… So good on salad, rice, beans (or beans AND rice!)… Pretty much anything is enhanced by the flavor of this sauce. The recipe is my own, but influenced by Alicia Silverstone’s Tahini Dressing from her great cook/lifestyle book “The Kind Life.”

Bri’s Tahini Dressing

  • 1/2 cup tahini (sesame seed paste)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1-2 Tbsp Bragg’s Liquid Aminos (or wheat-free tamari… Yes, I’m usually soy-free but sometimes I crave the rich, deep taste of soy)
  • 1 Tbsp nutritional yeast flakes
  • 2 Tbsp red wine vinegar or rice vinegar, OR 3 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp umeboshi plum vinegar (optional, but SO GOOD)
  • 1 big clove of garlic, crushed
  • dash of cayenne pepper
  • Salt, to taste (although you may not need salt if you use the full amount of Bragg’s)

Blend everything on high-speed. Store in a glass jar with a tightly fitting lid and use on ANYTHING.

  1. Sounds YUMMY! Can’t wait to try it! I bought some umeboshi plum vinegar awhile back and haven’t even tried it yet. Now I have a good excuse to break it out. :)

OMG, the ume vinegar is FAB. Kind of an “acquired taste,” but I’ve acquired it :) and I love it!!! Hope you like it.
